Health and Safety Manager – Peachtree City, GA

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities

The Health and Safety Manager is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Health and Safety Management program under the direction of the Director of Governmental and Regulatory Affairs.  The Health and Safety Manager will minimize risks posed by hazards to its employees and to the company by supporting hazard control systems and programs while maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 

  • Develop, implement, and audit Health and Safety programs.
  • Conduct internal Health and Safety audits.
  • Perform root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and provide Health and Safety recommendations.
  • Maintain the Company’s Environmental, Health, and Safety training program.
  • Develop and conduct employee training relating to OSHA General Industry standards.
  • Perform hazard assessments and provide recommendations to control hazards. Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures according to the hazard assessment.
  • Perform job task observations and retrain where needed.   
  • Provide daily operational support to field management in Environmental, Health, and Safety areas.
  • Conduct contractor orientation and ensure contractors comply with Health and Safety policies and standards as needed.
  • Conduct incident investigations and participate in employee incident reviews for Environmental, Health and Safety incidents and near-misses.
  • Analyze incident data and performance metrics to identify trends.
  • Maintain awareness of current regulations.
  • Perform related duties and participate as needed in special projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge / Skill Requirements

  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, codes, and ordinances covering OSHA General Industry and Health and Safety regulatory standards.
  • Lab safety, confined space, and HAZWOPER and RCRA experience are beneficial.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and follow timely incident reporting, follow-up, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within groups to meet established timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Proficient in English, spelling, and arithmetic.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed ~25%; overnight stays may be required.
  • Must adhere to company safety standards.

 

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years experience in environmental, health, and safety, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the position’s duties.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in environmental, health and safety management, occupational health, or related science.
  • Certifications are a plus (CSP, CIH, PE, CHMM, etc.)

  • Ability to work outdoors and in industrial settings.
  • Intermittent physical activity, including standing, lifting, bending, reaching, walking, and driving. 
  • Ability to occasionally work 2nd or 3rd shift hours if needed.

Analytical Chemist

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our laboratory team. The ideal individual should have a degree in physical science (B.S.) with experience in a production laboratory setting. This is an entry-level position and is well suited to someone who wants to learn and establish a career.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Evaluate the chemical and physical properties of new products like motor oils, hydraulic fluids, and base oils as well as waste products such as used oil, diesel, industrial by-products, and other liquids/solids by utilizing appropriate testing and measurement standards.
  • Participate in the daily testing of tank samples, truck samples, railcars, and other activities in the laboratory and quality control areas. Such tests include BTU value, presence of metals, water percentage, total halogens, sulfur content, flash point, and material weight/pounds per gallon/viscosity
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment including, but not limited to: ICP, FTIR, GC, viscometers, and density meters in compliance with local, state and federal guidelines
  • Ensure adherence to professional lab standards and practices to maximize safety and operational effectiveness
  • Conducts laboratory audits; inspect and calibrate equipment, reviewing operational procedures and sampling techniques, review documentation and record keeping, and provide detailed written reports for such audits
  • Gives technical support to all Regional Managers, Sales, Plant Managers, and Customers
  • Update all lab safety manuals with appropriate topics, assist in a variety of plant duties/administration
  • The position available will work second shift.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must be willing to become familiar with all company policies and procedures regarding safety and operations
  • Capable of teaching and instructing others in the use and operation of UES laboratory equipment after training
  • Must be able to learn a working knowledge of all applicable rules, regulations pertaining to the collection/transportation of used oil
  • Good planning and organizational skills; limited supervision needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication ability
  • Able to multi-task, manage time, and work under pressure
  • Must be willing to work till work is completed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in chemistry or related field preferred
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in laboratory operations preferred
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory equipment/procedures including GC, ICP, FTIR, and Wet Chemistry
  • Intermediate computer skills. (MS Word, Excel preferred)
  • Basic Math skills (Mandatory)

  • Physical activity includes bending, reaching, stretching, climbing in/out of tractors and on top of tanks in addition to a laboratory environment
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Plant/Warehouse Operator

This position requires a practical background in manufacturing, fluid handling, and quality control. Duties include loading/unloading tanker trucks, and plant equipment maintenance. The confined Space experience is a plus. Some travel and overnight stays.

Electrical / Instrumentation Maintenance Technician

We are looking for a committed, hands-on, resourceful, and enthusiastic electrical maintenance person to expand our team at our Corporate Offices in Peachtree City, GA.  Your main responsibilities will be to learn and master the electrical and instrumentation side of our industrial systems and be involved in many of our new projects. You will be supported and trained as needed.

You do need experience in repairing, maintaining, diagnosing, and troubleshooting high/low voltage electrical systems. You will need some familiarity with PLCs. But, above all, you have to be willing to commit to the team and the work as every member of our team does.
